We kick things off with a visit to the beautiful Kera Kardiotissa Monastery, a peaceful spot where nuns live and care for the site. You'll get to see a famous icon of the Virgin Mary that many believe has miraculous powers, along with amazing 14th-century frescoes and religious art.
From there, we head up to the stunning Lasithi Plateau, sitting 850 meters above sea level and surrounded by the dramatic Dikti Mountains. This area is dotted with 18 traditional villages where time seems to stand still. You'll see the iconic white-sailed windmills and old Venetian ditches, built to help irrigate the land centuries ago.
After that, we go to the village of Psychro. There, we visit the well-known Dikteon Cave. Inside the cave, you will see impressive rock formations called stalactites and stalagmites. According to Greek mythology, Zeus was born here. In Phychro, you will also visit a pottery workshop and learn how local ceramics are made.
We wrap up the day in Tzermiado, the main village of the plateau. It's a perfect spot to unwind—with its stone houses, mountain views, and relaxed atmosphere. Take your time, snap some photos, and enjoy a tasty lunch at a cozy local tavern.
On the way back, we stop at a traditional olive oil factory near the foothills of the Lasithi area. You will learn how olive oil is produced and taste extra virgin olive oil and local products before we return.
